I get that, but finding a left back within our budget is a tough ask.
I also get the “but we have Shinnie”, but people need to realise he’s a midfielder now.
He converted to that position at ICT and will only play left back if absolutely necessary.
The season before Shinnie arrived, Considine had his best season at left back and deserved to retain his place.
I wonder where we would have lost out if we did spend out earlier for a left back.
Would it have diverted funds from getting in Hayes or McGinn or Rooney etc etc etc?
I agree that Shinnie is better off in midfield but that doesn't stop us signing a left back and lo and behold we finally sign someone and what a difference it's made. Considine had benefited from the system of having our wingers doing a lot of defending. Thankfully McInnes can now see what most of us have been able to see for a while.
It's known as the Langfield arguement.
The Langfield argument also extends to the current coach & chairman.
The first isn’t Bossu, the second isn’t McGhee & the third isn’t Craig Whyte. We should all be grateful for that & it’s not worth the risk to hope for better.
I’m not debating and have never done so that we should aim to get a better left back.
We are still looking as Lowe is only temporary.
Goalkeeper is a specialised role and I think all agree could have been improved far earlier.
Outfield it becomes subjective which areas are the priority.
Full back isn't the most complicated position to play.
it doesn't require outstanding football ability.
Good ability matched with hard work, pace and a willingness to learn will do fine.
Why are we looking?
Why haven't we produced our own?
Have to say I didn’t even know there was such a thing as the best back up centre back in the league
If Consi is the best back up centre back in the league then who is the best back up centre back in the world?
