I can't stand back 3s unless you have world class players doing it. I watched a lot of Stoke matches last season with Mark Hughes stubbornly sticking to his back 3 with wingbacks and they summed up the reason I don't like it.

You have to be 100% sure what part you are playing and which player you are in charge of for marking. So often they are pulled out of position specially if up against a front 2.

Pep has his players well drilled for it but there are so many poor imitations of it.

If you want wingers then buy wingers and play your defenders as defenders! It also frees up another player in midfield too. 4 4 2 diamond is the original and best formation for most teams. Including ours

Yes back to basics Sam. But it doesn't matter what formation we use if our keeper is craap and only one decent centre back.

There has to be a Master-Plan, in line with continuing to lower the age of the squad, of course. Bringing in Terry along with Collins and Huth?

I know other villa fans are going potty over this. However I think it makes sense and create room in the squad. We already have Hutton Bree Taylor and Elmo. We also have bolasie and Adoma if we want to go a more attacking 3 52 or something like that.
We desperately need Terry and Collins like today Bruce. I'm confident we have something up our sleeve but this summer has been a shambles and it's not all Bruce's fault.
The disruption over the summer is effecting us now but let's hope it's sorted in the next week.
I would be confident on promotion if Collins and Terry sign. If not playoffs at best.
