There’s was always going to be a bigger crowd this weekend so there should of been more turnstiles open. Hopefully the club learns from this. You can’t go opening gates up like that. It’s a possible recipe for disaster

If I could enter into this discussion.

I saw there was a large queue at the turnstyle in question as I went to take my seat in the stand and having just spoken to JR.

Given that the fans had paid for their tickets in advance, - it was probably a sensible solution to open the main gate (on this occasion) to allow the fans in, - particularly as it avoided frustration.

However, - this is most definitely not the solution to the problem as fans will become wise and not purchase a ticket, assuming they will be allowed in to avoid congestion etc, - a la Parkhead yesterday.

The best solution is to divert an extra turnstyle attendant to the problem area 20 minutes before kick off, - because with the best will in the world, Dumfries football fans will always turn up at the last minute.

However, for the die-hard Queens fans such as JR, - as he suggests above, - he should get his backside along 10 minutes earlier to avoid creating the congestion in the first place, - and especially if Queens turn out performances like Saturday, - because crowds WILL be bigger, - even if the extra numbers are just the many scouts who will be invariably attracted to have a look at Dykes, Doyle, Stirling et al.

My point that no one seems to be bothered about is that Queens dont actually know what the crowd was . They have released an attendance figure that will be lower than actually at Palmerston . I still have mine and my two daughters tickets here at home - intact . I have just heard that the gates were opened at the other side of the ground as well although I will have to get more confirmation.

    Precisely sir!

Even when things on the park are going better than anyone dared dream......we can still find a problem!
