Forgot about Patching, I'd absolutely give him some playing time, he's played in a couple of behind closed doors games I think so should be ready you would have thought

Pretty sure that Bird isn’t available tomorrow or Saturday - called up for the Northern Ireland U-21s. Let’s just hope he gets a game for them.

Be quite interesting to see the new gaffers take on the squad.

Picking Jones because hopefully it's the last time we see him at left back for a while and you also need a certain amount of players that have played in a number of games and I'd imagine there's 5 or 6 eligible in that side depending on how it works. I'd rest Enzio, Kellett, Dennis, Hemmings and I'd hope all of them will start in the next league game. Ideally I'd play Hall too but who knows what his injury or how long he's out for still.
    Jones is suspended

Crazy @FA rule means that Dan Jones misses tomorrow in Checkatrade, 2 games for U23’s and 3 games for 1st team. Why is he banned from tomorrow’s game and 3 League games #illogical

If that's the case I agree that the FA rule is crazy, but in my opinion the more games Dan Jones is banned for the better.

At least this is a perfect first game for HK's learning curve. Does anybody really give a 5hit about this comp.?

IMO, it's not really the competition that's important....it's the fact that it's his first game in charge and he publicly stated that he, and his players, will try to win every game....I want to see how he's going to achieve that, and with what players and formation

I think Kewell needs to go with a side he thinks will also play Saturday. The players need confidence, and I assume that Grimsby will rest a few, so we should look to win this game at all costs. I am not bothered about the competition, but this game is a good opportunity for Kewell to see what he is up against, so no point in faffing with the squad.
