Elliott Ward's your classic big, head it, kick it centre-half and he's played his career at a decent level, so if he's anywhere near fit it should be a good addition. Certainly the right type of player.

Why? He was the fitness coach... Charlie Slater has answered this theory before and said he had nothing to do with the defensive coaching at the club.

It's not like Mike Edwards was Paolo Maldini either, his career was no better than the standard of defenders we currently have and he spent most of it playing under sh*te managers so there's nothing to say he would become a great coach just because he's a club stalwart.

Richard Duffy has arguably had a much better career than Mike Edwards considering he's a full international with Wales and has spent longer at higher levels than Edwards. What could Eddie teach Duffy?

It's marginal. Better career? Maybe at a slightly higher level than Eddie (really not much in it) but surely you would have to agree that at the age that Duffy is now Eddie was far more reliable.

How to stay on his feet and try and recover when he phucks up instead of rolling on the floor waving his arms at the ref?

Not much in it? Only the 13 international caps, 68 games in the Championship, 126 more games than him in League One and the fact that Richard Duffy has currently played more games in total than Edwards did in his career. Duffy has played for Burnley, Swansea, Coventry and Millwall whereas the height of Edwards' career is us... It's not even close.

I eagerly await the excuse of "Edwards could have done all that but he was loyal to Notts"...

They're both quite similar in play style, neither rely on pace because they both move at the speed of snail and both of them try and win headers by pushing their opponent in the back instead of out jumping them. Duffy uses his theatrics to try and assist him and more often than not he will win a freekick instead of having to run after a player that is much quicker than him. I don't like it (and i don't like him) but it's worked plenty of times, sometimes it doesn't, just as sometimes Edwards got beat when he displayed the turning circle of an aircraft carrier when the ball was played in behind him.

According to Wiki Edwards has more than 100 games more than Duffy.

How would you compare Duffy now with Edwards at the same age?
