    Advice please on Vegas

My Son off to Las Vegas next weekend. Staying at the Venetian.

Ive been to Florida a few times but I think Vegas is a whole different ball game.

Anyone with advice/knowledge on do' s and dont' s would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    👍

He's not a gambler thankfully. But it wouldn't be right not to visit the Casino's I suppose. But in moderation.

I lose my blob on the 10p falls machines at the coast.

Ha ha, over here it's called Lost Wages Nevada. Just go with the knowledge that you are going to lose, depends how much you can afford to lose however, pick a figure you can lose and still have a good time and don't go over that figure, no matter what. Better to enjoy the shows rather than trying your luck in the casinos all the time, personally I find casinos very boring, I used to just people watch rather than bet. A trip to the Grand Canyon is special though.

From what I hear Vegas is fun for 3-4 days. Some decent performers who have residencies there (comedians, musicians - a shame Don Rickles died not too long ago), some good old school nightclub entertainment, decent cocktails in fascinating casinos, and some good restaurants for meat lovers.

A lot of addicts, prostitutes, desperate people and poverty. And tourists!

Should be interesting if nothing else! Hope your son has a nice trip.

Funnily enough CL, I used to go to the match with four lads who were big, big gamblers, to the point where they would bet on whether the 20 pound note in their hand had an odd or even serial number at the end of it.

And, naturally we would end up at Aspers both pre and post match, where they would gamble.

Now I'm not a gambler. But I loved watching them and other's on the card's, roulette the bandits. The Chinese people from Newcastle are the best to watch.

    Thanks Hugh.

He's been about, Paris, Barcelona, Cancun, Glasgow etc. To be honest Stanley is probably worse, but without the tourist issue.

I know he's booked up to see the Grand Canyon, a helicopter flight over the strip, and a bloke called Calvin Harris.

He's also got the chance to go to a shooting range and let loose with a few guns. Now that would be for me.

Forgot to mention, the drive to Grand Canyon is quite long, 4 hours maybe more.

Thanks CL. He was talking about hiring a car but I convinced him to go with an organised tour, on a coach, which he has, along Route 66 apparently, so he can enjoy the ride.

I think we forget over here how big America is.
