I’m of a similar opinion and believe he is dining out on a wonder goal from last season.

I know it was only one game but the last home game he took our free kicks and corners and nearly every one of them was woefully wasted. Fair enough he may have been having a bad day but we need players to have more good days than bad if we are to turn the corner.

He’s not a battler or a spoiler either so needs to shine creatively and technically. My current conclusion therefore is disappointed which is not just limited to Husin.

On the subject of his wasted free kicks at the last home game, playing devil's advocate, I wondered if he'd put them in the place he was supposed to i.e what they'd worked on in training, but the others didn't attack the right area. My reason for this is that he put 2/3 in an identical area - which went out harmlessly at the back stick.

Just sticking up for Gumpy here. He did say to me 1st game of the season he was worried about how bad we were pre-season and how many we were letting in. To be honest I didn't agree with him at the time, shows how much I know lol.

True and an interesting theory and could be possible. It becomes difficult to pick out individuals for criticism for under performing. Lets face it the whole team has woefuly under performed so far this season with the exception of the likes of Jon Stead, which when a 35 year old is setting the way is shameful for those far younger who appear trudge around without a care in the world devoid of pride, professionalism and passion.

So from initially raising a point about the post match interview and Ajay concerns over lack of passion in the team due to no consequence for poor performance , I was heavily slated.Yet 4 pages down the line I find many agreeing with me, that the so called professionals lack hunger, desire and pride. So the question remains , why is Kewell so keen on defending them and does that mean he is going to just let those embarrassing under achievers just waltz straight back into next week starting 11 this perpetuating another 3+ defeat?

    You obviously lack managerial acumen.

If he’s not fit, try Patching in that role. Start with Hemmings up top, bring Stead on if it’s not working.

HK will be in the bizarre situation of being up in the director’s box again, so at least he’ll get a good view of what the problems are.
He should sit in the Kop, we’d tell him.

What, like you told the ref "you don't know what you're doing" at the last home game when he correctly allowed the FGR defender to remain on the pitch after getting treatment when the Notts player who fouled him had been booked!

The reason Kewell has chosen to defend them “publically” this being the key word unlike you, me or anyone else who critisicises the players on this board a public forum is basic man management. As I’ve said in other posts and threads it would do no good him coming on the radio and ripping them to shreds after that defeat and telling everyone how rubbish they were. He would lose the dressing room before he’s even started.

We don’t have to work with these players every day of the week or try to get them to play how we want and to our methods he does.

Have you seen the Dammed United where Clough goes in and tells the Leeds players to throw all their medals in the bin because they won them by cheating. It’s a similar scenario here. Harry Kewell would not get any respect from any of them.

I doubt over time and long term the under achievers will remain in the squad and Harry Kewell won’t allow them to. However for now and in the short term we may have to weather the storm and bare the pain because he can only work with what he has inherited. That is why he needs his players on side to try and salvage something from this titanic start to the season.
