in attendance when I looked in prior to the game at Palmy. With lots of young and older Queens fans in the queue
I was surprised to see in today's Standard a photo of a fan with the cup wearing an Aberdeen shirt ! !

Not so sure it was the actual Scottish Cup unless that one wasn't in the Scottish Football Museum at Hampden, as they only allow that one out on Scottish Cup Final day then is returned. More likely it was the replica.

The lad in front of me asked the Hampden museum man that question and he said it was THE Scottish Cup - why would they need 3 security guys to guard a replica ?

I'm not mad. I know the curator and he told me that the Scottish Cup only leaves to be presented to the winners on Finals day and is returned to the museum...

True enough if they actually have the original touring the country.

This will be the replica that was guarded by security guards and you weren't allowed to touch.

You Mr ALBERTZ continue to be an attention seeker. Give it a rest

sorry folks but albertz is actually right here. The original cup is only brought out of the museum once a year to be cleaned and handed to the winners on cup final day before being returned to the museum after the presentation. A second one was made which is almost identical to the original and this is the one the winners keep for the year and is used for promotional purposes.
The reason for a second being made was that there was no more room on the original to engrave the winners name.
Someone once told me that rangers name is not on the original as the second one was made before rangers first won the cup, but I don't know what truth is in that.
If you ever do the Hampden tour then the original is displayed along with a copy of the first European cup that Fergie won with man utd. Fantastic way to spend a few hours and great value for money.
