Thread: Tragedy or Triumph

    Tragedy or Triumph

Most plays have three Acts. In the first act the audience is introduced to the storyline (characters and their relationships), and to the plotline. Act 1 usually ends with a ‘kicker’…something that propels the drama; however, it is only in Act 2 that the real drama takes place. With great screenplays that drama is wholly absorbing; with every twist and turn blending seamlessly; carrying the audience towards the ‘climax’ of the final act. Well, I reckon today’s news conference with Bielsa was the kicker. For the next 5 weeks we are likely to have no Roofe (Player of the Month), no Bamford (our marquee signing), no Hernandez (our best player), and possibly no Berardi (our warrior).
Bielsa is of course the protagonist of our 2018/19 season…our ‘hero’. He has us all transfixed; given us a belief that our boys can deliver the plotline of promotion. Everything has gone sweetly, but today is the moment we began the second act, and Millwall away is the opening scene of that act. And this is because the antagonist in our play is the ever lingering boubt in Bielsa’s plan… sustainability. Can he manage such a small squad through the challenges/injuries of a long, hard Championship season? Can the supporting cast cover for the loss of key characters?

I reckon that the next 6 weeks (9 games) will tell us whether this seasons ‘play’ will be a tragedy or a triumph.

    Excellent piece Flinty ..........

Opportunity awaits on the wings of any stage production does it not and its time now for the young pretenders to step up.

After all the teaching & preparation the Teacher shall now learn himself if and who are good enough will he not ....

Cue Alan Smith ...... Anfield ....... that goal ......... and ..........

    "Once more unto the breach".

Yorkshire has produced some pretty decent script writers over the years (Bennet anyone) let’s hope Bielsa has the same touch in writing his own scripts.
