Funny you should say that. As a student in '87, one of our group-who was the only one arsed about 'fashion',( the rest of us spent our money on beer and, well,,,beer)-came back in from town (Leeds) with a pair of ripped jeans. And they were ripped all the way down at regular intervals.

He was genuinely proud of his designer gear and they had cost him 35 quid...which was absolutely frigging ridiculous then.

'lads, d'you like me new jeans?'

The replies were based around 'no, you look fucking ridiculous' and 'you paid how much????' to 'are you ok' and 'I'd take them back, mate, they've got a rip in 'em'.

Mind, he got away with it cos he was called Zag and he was from Ashby de la Zouche which none of us had ever heard of and sounded canny exotic so we reckoned it sort of came with the territory (i.e. wearing ridiculous clothes )

    But who's laughing now??

Well, it's us, still, really. I mean, it is, isn't it.

    Howay, man...pre-ripped jeans??

"Boss, the sewing machines went beserk...look at all this ruined stock...we'll have to hoy all these torn jeans out'

Boss: "ah, bollocks, that'll come out of our wages...unless, wait...no-one would be stupid enough to buy...."

    And the rest is history.

But even if it did offend, you just fired back with a joke to offend them. Nobody got their feelings hurt it was just banter, the fu*kin' PC brigade today are a bunch of tossers.

    Did you think of that?
Did you think that those bumps were put up so the scum of society don't drive down our children because they need to get to work faster? Sorry - don't give a hoot about your car.

I always thought speed bumps were put in place when every little jobless knacker thought it was great to steal people's cars and go joyriding.

Calm down and stop taking things out of context. It's a nostalgia thread, treat it as such.
