The most electorally successful leader the Labour Party ever had.. No wonder Labour supporters now fall over themselves in the rush to disown him - they clearly enjoy year after year of opposition obscurity.

No point in having a labour party in with no socialist policies might as well vote tory.

But Socialist policies have failed throughout history, Roly. They have succeeded only in delivering misery for the masses. They are currently delivering a financial catastrophy in Venezuela that has caused a sixth of its population to leave.

I read last week that every Labour government has ended with higher unemployment levels than when it began, Shouldn't that tell you something?

Given it a bit of thought gf.....I will concede that Blair is an undercover cultural marxist but an economic capitalist.

fascinating comment though gf......I really need a week or so to really think about it.

In your opinion Mr Kerr but this sounds like it could be one of those circular arguments coming up again that nobody can agree on involving the usual protagonists. In which case I shall leave it to anyone who is interested if they want to go through it all again.

Whether the Venezuelan economy is in a state of collapse and the unemployment rates at the beginning and end of periods of Labour government are matters of fact, not opinion.

I think most Labour supporters would more look look towards the democratic socialism of the Nordic model when identifying as socialists, which I don't think can be said to be delivering misery to the masses. Little bit of a cheap straw man to imply they're all communists or aspire to the likes of Venezuela.

And Blair is hated amongst Labour supporters because of Iraq. That's a simple one.
