I agree with the last part, I started with nothing, nobody ever helped me, 6 months living in a YMCA at 17 years of age teaches you to look after yourself, nobody else will!.....worked hard at every job I had and had my fair share of good luck, from sweeping floors to running $1,000,000 accounts for the Brewery, and ultimately my own businesses........8 kids and 4 "marriages" plus countless other girlfriends show that I'm a browser rather than a grazer (goat and sheep analogy there for good effect), but still ended up with a huge $xxx,xxx property and enough savings and pension to live on, on my own, in my Mexican hideaway.....that is not even considered moderately wealthy by today's standards......the new wealthy would be $5,000,000 plus IMO?

Big Corporations are now in control, instead of individuals, their balance sheets often bigger than the GDP of even moderately-sized countries.....it's scary.

I'm happy supping ale and spending a few hours on here every day, gardening and looking after my animals (I hate it when I have to cull out 4 or 5 for the slaughter-house, but my land cannot support more than 10 or 12 full-time)....watching the sun-rise every morning, and the sunset if I'm sober enough.....hahahaha

A touch of your experiences would show our "esteemed friends" (I like that description) would at the very least show them another lifestyle/mindset and that all of us Tories (and millions more) are not all born to privilege upper class idiots and that many blokes like ourselves are reasonable caring human beings. Christ ..... I can remember being skint once and every week my first wife and I giving the bailiffs a cup of tea as they decided what to take in lieu of the then debt. In fact we got to be friends with them! Things can only get better - and I pulled through but that was 50 years ago. Really what I'm saying is that self confidence, a slice of luck and determination to be positive is a great asset, but then again you can't preach that to everybody .... some have it, others don't and that's the way it is.

I can't believe it but Elite seems to be mellowing a little ......... he actually agrees with me on a couple of points!!!
He's obviously not a bad lad at heart .... so in future I'll bear it in mind to treat him as one of my Socialist friends of which I have a lot ..... truthfully.

Had remain won, the economic future would have been far more assured. With a nutter like Trump on the loose, Britain needed to be part of a European power bloc.
The economic consequences of a leave vote are IMO likely to be devastating and recovery, if it occurs, will not happen for at least a generation.
The consequences of that stupid vote will prove disastrous. For Serious to say he will admit if he was wrong is no comfort whatever because there is no mending the mess that we are about to enter with this bunch of total incompetents (and I'm talking about all political parties here).
In fact I'd go so far as to say Notts have more chance of recovering their season and finishing up in the top seven. In other words, no chance.

Like you say in your opinion. You voted remain so can't see past that. You know as much as me or the next man what will happen after brexit. In my opinion if it ACTUALLY happens the first few years will be difficult but in the the long term I think our country will be better off, but it is only my opinion. But I don't call people stupid for voting what they believe in.

TBH Navy, this is how several posters wanted this forum (another reason for the mob banning of Vlad?)....sanitised and boring, so boring in fact that I now spend my evenings watching butter and cheese-making videos......honestly

Another factor, is the continued warnings that MAD is going to be closed if the arguing doesn't stop....ok, well it's stopped and we now have the equivalent of a female crochet class..... and butter-making is far more exciting....sorry.....plus, I'm worried about starting an argument in case I'm the one that gets blamed for MAD's closure!

We've even got a few posters on this thread saying how much better the forum is now.....hahaha......the longest-running thread of the last few days has been about the "ressies", wow, if I wanted to just have a site totally dedicated to Footy, I'd use the main site (in fact the main site is more interesting as it has pics and vids and interviews) or the other "polite site" where my write-up on the Wollaton deer-culling was edited to remove the word deer-**** to deer-poo poo, I kid you not....that was my last post on there "cheerio, thanks but no thanks"

Whereas once I used to relish the cut-n-thrust of arguing or debating with Elitus or Driller, now I prefer to watch Vlad, the Russian Orthodox Priest, discussing the merits of using sour cream or Americanised fresh "sweet" cream as a starter, or whether you should mix the salt in after the butter has formed or during the blending process.

I purchased a new blender yesterday evening, so I shall be trying both methods....I will post a vid once the results are in....yawn

Yes mate , bring back Vlad. Love or loathe him he certainly spiced things up on here . Things got so bad on here that Elite turned up on the sixfields parking thread hoping for an argument only to find a very helpful cobbler , thanks for the info by the way mate.
