Next up - Hearts in the League Cup

Motherwell made five appearances at Hampden last season and a win at Tynecastle on Wednesday would see a return in next month's Betfred Cup semi-final. - External Link

IMO lets have a real go at the Jambos from the outset and if we should go a goal up don’t try and set in on it. Let’s start to believe in ourselves as a team again.Yes we could get a hammering but I would rather have that by trying to win the game, than getting everyone behind the ball trying to frustrate the opposition and end up losing a goal or two and then having to chase tha game. It’s a cup tie so let’s get the sleeves rolled up and get right in about them COYW

That's easy to say beforehand but
    1) if we do that and get gubbed 3-0, Robinson will get absolutely crucified and our fragile confidence will shatter completely.
    2) even when on form, we're almost never that sort of team. And we're not on form now.

Last season we were lucky not to be behind at half-time against Rangers in the semi but in the three other big performances, the base was being solid and conceding no more than 2-3 chances per game against Aberdeen and Hearts. And at the other end they duly chucked us goals.

Other than our previous recent cup record, there is absolutely nothing which suggests we're likely to win tonight - but if we do upset the odds it will be by keeping it tight and letting Hearts lose it, not us charging out to win it from the first minute.

I can't see us doing anything tonight as we simply don't have goals in us and Hearts are playing well. Our only hope is if Hearts chuck us a goal of a start like they did in the Scottish Cup last season.

We might scrape a 0-0 but if we go to penalties we haven't a hope in hell.
