Tartar sauce is better than Parsley.

    Some chippies sell the sachets.

i always associate parsley sauce with fish that's not been battered and fried so I'm struggling with the idea of it in a fish and chip shop. Having said that I'd probably give it a go if it was on offer (and I'd made the 5500 mile trip back to England. If you get it going Riley, let me know where and I'll drop in when I come over in November!)

I remember when the fish and chip shop first opened at The Brecks in about 1960 and it was very good. Tried it a few years back and it was barely average. The XL in Wickersley as already mentioned was the traditional top spot on the east side of town for many years. No longer apparently.

Monty, Topfield Fisheries on Topfield Lane has been there for as long as I can remember.

I usually stay at my cousin's in Ravenfield when I'm in town and the chippy across from the Cav is excellent.

Was in Reykjavik in Iceland a couple of years ago, I had heard that Volcano House chippy did the best fish n chips in Iceland.
I sought out the chippy, 2 x fish n chips and large bottle of water, the food was really good and fish was excellent.
For the equivalent of £43.00 in English dosh, a lot of money for fish n chips.

As someone said above "liquor" that's served with pies in London is a parsley sauce, originally it was made with eels as well.

sota, is the Topfield Lane chippy the same one I called Melia's at Dalton? Interesting you mention Ravenfield: I was there the night the old Ravenfield Hall burnt down - nothing to do with starting it though!

What is the best chippy in Rotherham now?

That Marina place near the training ground was pretty good last time I went but don't really know any others now.
