No , i was in my ****s then and could barely have afforded an Escort scud book.

OK perhaps, despite the time elapsed, this has crossed too far into the realms of poor taste.
You're correct, Allan Street near Great Western Road. I'm not sure why I thought it was Summerfield Terrace. It was her place, so the likelihood is that it was someone known to Dr Page

We’ve got a few unsolved round Dumbarton, including a couple which I’d be amazed if the police didn’t know who was responsible. Everyone else seems to know.

My dad got brought in for questioning for the Jackie Gallacher murder. He was driving the same make of car at the same time that was spotted in the area. My mum had left her handbag in the car without ID which double f*cked him. Actually now that I type that out, his excuse seems quite flimsy...

Aye, it's now the Mariner... the bar looks not too dissimilar now!

On the subject of unsolved murders and chippers, there was a wino murdered near my flat in Holburn Street.
I don't remember where, Union Grove area or something.

Of course plod didn't have a clue and some weeks later they got round to interviewing my brother who used to hang around in the Rendezvous cafe up that way.

Where were you on the night of the....?

Saturday night...... at that time.......chipper, chatting up the quines there.
Always chatting up the quines in the chipper at that time on a Saturday night.

Anyway, tunred out that the chipper was closed that night for holidays or whatever.

My brother by this time was back at college in Edinburgh.

They went and got him, pulled him out of a class and drove him back up to Aberdeen.

In the back of the car beside a giant bobbie all the way to Aberdeen, he must have been s'hiting himself.

Of course by this time they would just have been happy with an arrest, any arrest.

I'm not sure he ever got over it.

A pal of mine (now deceased) got lifted / interviewed for the cheesewire murder. He fitted the description and had a cut on his hand.

To be fair I wouldn't have put it past him - his party trick was biting glass off pint glasses and chewing it into a powder.
A bit late now to re-interview him though ....

Get out and do some detective work like your predecessors should've done 40 years ago. There must be a fairly strong chance that Page wasn't the victim of a random attack so there must be a trail to follow...
I think even the useless Grumpian Police know who murdered Brenda Page; they just can't pin it on him.
