Work will still go offshore to the cheapest countries so the bosses can get richer as usual, we'll still have lost our biggest trade partner for some fabled new trade deals with x,y and z which won't make up the shortfall in our economy. It was funny that this vote to leave was meant to benefit the man on the street, from where I sit us ordinary folk are just going to get poorer. Still all those who voted leave and are sat on their nice nest eggs in retirement I'm sure will be joining us in the gutter...........
Blimey that crystal ball of yours must have cost a packet, you knowing all that about what the future holds for all of us.Can I get one

What annoys me most about this whole Brexit thing is the attitude of some leavers which goes something like this:

'We won, you lost, you have no right to make any comments and even when you do, it's just lies and scaremongering '

I voted remain, but my standpoint now is that we should get out, but with the best deal possible. This will mean compromise with the EU.
And if the vote had gone the other way the remainers would be saying exactly the same, you lost get over it.

“Two thirds (67%) of those describing themselves as Asian voted to remain, as did three quarters (73%) of black voters.”
And this article before the vote predicted the results above:
    https://www.theguardian.com/politics...figures-brexit,
    it states:
“.. research by the British Election Study suggests that about two-thirds of their black, Asian and ethnic minority (BAME) counterparts are in favour of remaining in the EU.”

Channel 4 did a poll backing the above figures up also.
Do you have any poll or other evidence backing up your statement that “Asian voters voted largely to leave”? Seems like the opposite from the poll data above.

On the 15 year rule & Brexit, yes sure those Brits in the EU would probably vote to Remain. But perhaps many Brits outside the EU would vote to Leave because they believe their profession or business would be better served with easier access to the English speaking Commonwealth Realms? Why is that not as good a reason for them to be given a vote on Brexit as the one you present for the EU dwellers? In addition, people are always mobile these days (I’ve worked in about 10 countries to date) so someone in New Zealand or Australia this month could be working back in the UK or France next month (this happens a lot in my profession), so how would you administrate that?
Anyway, I'd agree it’s a debate to be had rather than a clear black & white thing.
The Ashcroft data is very interesting, the fact that overwhelming majority of leave voters were motivated by sovereignty and immigration, and only 6% by potential improvements in the economy, is significant I think.

But the data is by ethnicity and not nationality, so it makes no distinction between say a third or fourth generation black Briton or Asian Briton, and a Commonwealth citizen resident in the UK who thinks he or she or a relative has a better chance of getting a UK passport with a leave vote.

What was that Nigel Farage said?

If it's 52 - 48 to remain it will be very much unfinished business.

But hey, let's forget all about stuff like that. A Brexiter even started a petition for a second referendum before the vote as he was sure they'd lose!

One problem with that is NF is not even an MP he could shout as loud as he wanted but having lost it would make him look like some of the remainers in the establishment look now--pathetic.

The second referendum stuff should be simple. I don't think polls are currently showing enough support for remain to justify a second referendum, but if at any point it starts looking like support for the alternative is significant, we should obviously have another referendum.

I don't think that we should've had the initial one until support for leave was pushing 60% in the polls either, for what it's worth.

All of this mess could have been avoided if we had determined that any major change in the constitution could only be brought about by a two-thirds majority. 52-48 is too narrow a split on which to base such a major change and will create bad feeling for years to come. What good is an economic turnaround in 25 years to most of the guys on this board - they'll be long gone or in their dotage.
Surely, it's the next 25 years themselves that are the most important.
I can honestly say that a 2/3 majority to leave would have made me accept the result. However, I would still have said that people were making a big mistake because they don't know enough.
You wouldn't ask the citizens of Nottingham to choose the County team this Saturday when you are employing a staff of knowledgeable experts to make a sound judgement, would you?

No it's not....that was the original batch of 6 or 7 countries who got together after the last WW.......the Guardian ran a nice "scare piece" yesterday explaining why our 39 billion squid divorce bill might be "considerably higher"....because the Socialist EU mafia have apparently agreed to spend much more than they originally intended on rebuilding Central and Eastern Europe using the EU Credit Card, despite some of the Western EU countries asking them to rein in the spending.

One thing I've learnt in life (Sid, listen carefully....I can see you're lurking).....never give women, or Socialists, you're credit card, you'll regret it.
