God that brings back memories man,standing in rivers of pish,cos there was nee way to get to the bogs.
Fires been lit FFS! and bangers landing in the hood of your Parker a couple of weeks either side of bonfire night..

Mind, John Hall had half a mind to move us over to the Gateshead side of the river-the old Fed brewery site?

As two cities i think there's a cracking relationship between us but i wouldn't have been over happy to go south of the Tyne to watch us.

In the early 60’s I remember being passed over everyone’s heads and sat on the cinder track behind the goal.

No Health and Safety in them days.

I remember that Terry from the late 40's, standing as stiff as a log and the fellows passing you at speed overhead down to the front to sit cross legged almost in touching distance of the pitch.

You couldn't imagine it these days.

That's only a stone's throw away from the old Gateshead ground Redheugh Park, originally known as Johnson's Clay Hole which they had to fill in before the original stadium was built early 1930's
