I hope Cosgrove comes good but folk on here defending Cosgrove (which is really just defending Mcinnes) wouldn't have been so quick to defend Rooney if he went all those games without scoring.

    Cosgrove

    - he game into the the game late and is under-coached and under-developed for a player his age

I think the point was that guys with Cosgrove's physical attributes don't come to clubs like Aberdeen if they're the finished article. If we can hothouse him to compensate for what he's missed out on by not taking the game seriously at a young age, maybe we end up with the kind of player we couldn't easily get otherwise. SPL defenses don't cope well with powerful forwards.

It's a punt but he's already put in a few very decent performances. I noticed for example in interviews Burnley players mentioned Cosgrove among Aberdeen players who'd impressed them. Now he's scored a couple which maybe gets a monkey off his back.

If I had to bet my house on it, I still think he's more likely to be a gamble that fails than one that succeeds. But we can't just go out and buy guaranteed quality on our budget. If it works out, great for him and great for us. If it doesn't it hasn't cost us much. And at least we're using a bit of imagination.
Good comments ... he was indeed very effective in the Burnley home game against towering defenders.

Good point. Rooney would have been lambasted

Only one goal to go to catch Calvin Zola who was McInnes's 1st foray into the big direct number 9 type forward.

McLennan looks like a decent prospect...Cosgrove doesn’t. I was happy Cosgrove scored at the weekend and only stated that I bet he doesn’t score against Hearts in the next match...agree or disagree Rico? Our goal(s) will have to come from elsewhere.

I don’t know if he will score against Hearts but I’m sure you will gloat about it if he doesn’t ,I bet he would be just as much of a decent prospect if he came through the youth team like McLennon did as well.

So basically McLennon and Wright had good games against St Mirren and they are great prospects but Cosgrove only scored twice because they are sh1te?

Maybe all 3 of them are like Considine, fine against the diddy teams as the Consi fan club put it.

Cosgrove is a garbage prospect as whether you like it or not until st mirren he had scored 1 goal in 40 odd appearances at 1st team level but you just ignore that. If a team like caley or st Johnstone has him we’d accuse them of being hammer throwers as he may win a few headers

Scott Wright has scored 4 goals in 38 games, does that mean he is a garbage prospect too?

Do you rate McLennan? I personally think that for his first start he looked decent (granted is was mostly highlights). What’s the big fuss over Lurch? Not the kind of striker we need...we need goals from strikers and his ratio suggests he isn’t getting many at all. I would punt him in January but admittedly I am a hard to please but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
