    Personal Fitba Firsts

This thread is doomed to the under ten replies, under 100 views bargin basement bin because most people can't remember their footballing firsts...Nevertheless, the threads presently are lacking that bit of je ne sais quoi so I'll crack on regardless...

Harking back to the old Pittodrie Profile segment in the match programme (Favourite Pre-Match Meal: Steak and Chips, Favourite Band Earth, Wind and Fire etc)

    1st Dons Match : St Mirren 3/3/84

1st Match Without Dons: Hearts v Dundee October 1985 (the game that began the Hearts unbeaten run to blowing the double)

Oh, Scotland v Czechoslovakia in '73! It must've been a tight squeeze with around 120,000 in Hampden that night. I think that was the game that George Galloway said that someone had a pish down his new camel hair, ankle length coat

Good thread, but very tricky this, and there was some checking as I'm affa auld ...

    1st Dons Match : Cowdenbeath 5/12/70
1st Dons Away Match: Hibs 3/5/80 (League Champ. Match)
1st Dons Hampden Match League Cup Final 6/11/76

This match highlights was shown on ITV but on the national network (I haven't explained that correctly but I mean everyone in the UK could watch the match) with comms from Brian Moore, which I have a copy of the original with Moore practicing is Intro etc...

Now during this Intro the camera pans to show a healthy Dons support, and I've always wondered how they travelled over. Would it have all been conducted at the travel agents or was there actually supporters buses running to Hamburg?

This needs sharing - can you upload it somewhere?

I have a copy of the Grampian original for the home game against Bayern in March 1983.

I uploaded a section of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laeBBhDfwfc

I watched that before, but my ITV Hamburg video isn't as good or revealing (Is Kennedy the experienced that Fergie thinks couldn't handle it?). It's just Moore babbling on the microphone (I've got Gerald Sinstadt bing slighty racist at World Cup '78 too)...

I've also got 65 minutes (good picture quality) of the Ipswich game at Pittodrie and the whole 90 minutes of the Waterschei game also at Pittodrie with I think some moments not shown on the night...I was actually surprised at how poor the Ipswich game was to watch apart from the goals...

I will see about making it available on YouTube...

For the UEFA cup match in 81, me and a mate from ABZ were in Northern Germany on an extended school exchange, and through the late great Chris Anderson, we secured tickets, and travelled down from Kiel on the train. Unfortunately it meant our seats were in amongst HSV fans, but to be fair, they weren't too bad at all. I honestly can't remember bumping iunto any other Dons fans at the match, but it was a wee while ago ....
For the Super Cup final, I know there were organised trips, as my mates - including donunder from the forum - all went on a ferry, and returned with the famous tale of one of their number getting rata**ed on the beer at the ground, which later turned out to be alkoholfrei!
    Oh happy days ....
