    Silent fans, black eggs, 90-hour trip: recalling West Brom’s tour of China

    From today's Guardian West Brom’s tour of China an interesting read.

    Apparently the journey took 90 hrs after leaving West Bromwich. Albion were down to play 3 games only in China but Bert Millichip was persuaded to add an extra game in canton on an appalling pitch refereed by Jack Taylor. We won 6-0. the final game of the tour was played against Hong Kong again winning, 3-0. 3 months later Albion visited Syria playing 2 games in 3 days. This mini tour was after we got knocked out of the Caledonian cup, who remembers that?

    Great article and bit of Film. I spent a lot of time in China in the 80,s and 90,s and have a lot of very special, and not so special, memories of my time there. That China has gone no though unfortunately.
