But the most important thing that happened that day was the cowardly way that Hunter effectively ended Caspers career. I think Frank was irreplaceable - he made the whole team tick and I think it was the beginning of the end of our big dreams when he was finished.

I am not a violent bloke and don't usually hold grudges, but I'll certainly make an exception with Hunter and his dreadful boss Revie.

A decent bloke like Brian Clough never had a prayer in a den of iniquity like Elland Road.
Yep,they weren't called "Dirty Leeds for nowt 59/60.. The whole team were just a set of thugs and bullies.. I think the only ones who wasn't were Terry Cooper ,maybe Paul Reany as well.

I agree with you both and Frank Casper was a real miss and probably should not have played in the semi-finalagainst Newcastle because he was still struggling and I also will never forgive Hunter for his assault on Frank which was totally unnecessary.
I wonder what sort of ban he would get these days with the quest to remove all physical contact from the game.

Watching the Scotland game tonight and saw Soutter get two yellow cards for absolutely nothing ---the modern game stinks!!

I'm on the fence on this one Super.

I'm chuffed that thugs like Hunter, Bremner, Stiles, Vinny Jones et al would not be able to get away with their assaults these days.

It's still a physical game though - there are some bloody big powerful blokes playing these days. I wouldn't care to have to go in for a 50-50 with Tarks.

Burnley are certainly not shrinking violets - but they play in the right way. When was the last Burnley player sent off in a league match?

So, all in all, I think the officials get it just about right these days. I don't want a return to the Dirty Leeds era.

I understand what you are saying, however, the officials are only working to instruction and gradually you will see the physical contact penalised every time in favour of one or another player.
Yes there were thugs around, however, you just got on with the game and you still knew some underhand tactics which you could get away with and which did not spoil the game as a spectacle.

My biggest sympathy is with the officials, who are being directed down a very dodgy path as each week passes and who have to deal with more and more cheating, feigning injury etc. in each game and they get crucified for thier actions.

Another game that sticks out in my memory was 10th November 1962. A home game against Wolves.

This was a special day for me - my first game on the Turf without my Dad. I went with my school friend - I was 9 years old.

I was really looking forward to seeing Wolves "old gold and black" strip.

I was indescribably excited all week. Making the journey from Rawtenstall on a bus packed with Clarets, walking to the ground among what seemed like millions of excited people...it all seemed like a dream.

We decided to stand in the Cricket Field stand along with the big lads - and we were awestruck at the noise and atmosphere in there - it was really deafening.

I remember vividly, just before the players came out, Carole King singing "It might as well rain until September" was played. I really felt that I was part of the Burnley family that day - I wouldn't wish to be anywhere else.
This was a very real rite of passage for me.

Burnley put on a terrific performance and won 2-0.

Fantastic memories that have stayed with me these last 56 years.

I had the immense privilege to see Miss Streisand in a very small and intimate stage setting in Northern California. I am still in love!

What a voice and what a stage presence she has.

I have never played any computer or digital games in my life and don't know anything about any of them ---I would rather be out in the fresh air no matter what the weather. It's a good job that we are all different ---life would be boring otherwise!
