Was Aberdeen involved in a match fixing scandal in the 1920s? Belgium has had issues for many years, I mentioned Standard Liege v Waterschei in 1982 as an example in a previous thread.

I have no doubts that there has been match fixing to some extent in Scotland too, especially in the 1990s and onwards...

Anderlecht bribed a ref in a UEFA cup game v Nottingham Forest in the 80s too

Remember reading it in a book about Clough

Daugava Riga were investigated for match fixing when we beat them a few years ago. I don't remember ever seeing any final outcome on the investigation but I do know that Daugava are defunct now. I don't know if the match was fixed by them but they were certainly one of the worst teams I have ever seen at Pittodrie

Was it not the same ref that was in charge of our away leg against Porto?

Match fixing is has been going on for decades in Scotland. It is part of 'our game'. It is the fixing of Scottish Football for the continual benefit of the weegie mafia that is the big issue. It will continue for ever. 'Our game' is loaded.

So the c***s at Hamdung are capable of anything.
And the media & press will say nothing about it.
So of course it can happen.
In an indirect way it has for years.

Hence my absolute contempt for the SFA, & by association, Scotland’s national team.

Think I’m getting muddled up but I’m sure there was a Aberdeen, Forest, Porto, cheating b’stards connection

Maybe because these games were in the European semi finals in 84. Not suggesting the reason was to prevent it, but that year all three tournament finals could have been all British ties.
