I remember that shop well. The door handle was a cricket bat. I bought loads of Subbuteo teams from there.

I used to call on the shop when I worked for Dunlop/Slazenger and then when I set up my own sports wholesale business and I was in there a lot during the 90’s.

Harry was old but in most days and his daughter Val ran the shop.

Lovely, traditional shop.....they even had a little tea lady who must’ve been 80 herself.

I actually helped during their closing down sale and I made the last sale the business ever made.

Sad to be there in its final days......staff were very emotional.

My sports shop of choice for Subuteo stuff was in New Street close to The Adelphi. Think it was called Dickens. Anyone confirm?

That's a fine old building the shop was in. Is it still there?

Hello Woody, I remember the Harry Parkes shop as a kid/****ager.

From memory and the original image posted……

……it was part of the Pittman building which according to Google Images was there until very recently………

…….and according to the article linked below it’s a Grade Two listed building which was once frequented by no less than Mahatma Ghandi in its’ days as a vegetarian hotel and restaurant…..

……so although I haven’t been down Corporation Street in a while, and Brum’ has/is going through a lot of change, then I’d say that yes it’s most likely still there chap.
