Sad news today of his death.

Indeed, very sad. I'd not heard about this until reading this thread. Part of a legendary team, terrific winger - very sorry to learn that he has passed away. RIP Charlie.

An ever-present in the 1970/71 promotion side, he only played once the following season. That was against Villa in front of a crowd of 34,208 at Meadow Lane. He then retired at the age of 30 and moved back to Yorkshire where he became a fireman. He was a referee at local league level.

Don Masson's accurate passing to Charlie Crickmore on one wing or Jon Nixon on the other, proper wingers on the wing lobbing the ball over to Tony Hateley and Les Bradd, proper football, exciting stuff and great entertainment.

Great nostalgic photo. "The team of giants" both in height and skill.

Properly turned out .... they looked good, shirts tucked in and socks worn correctly as well as the historic stripes on full show. I know looking smart doesn't make a footballer but it gives the impression they are.
