    Today’s press conference

Andreas Winkler is looking for Barnsley to gather momentum heading into a hectic winter schedule, with games set to start coming thick and fast.

The Reds, fresh from back-to-back victories against promotion-chasing Peterborough United and Luton Town, are looking to win three consecutive league games for the first time since September 2016 when they face Charlton Athletic on Saturday

“We’ve prepared very well and had plenty of time so that everyone fits to our idea,” said Winkler. “The coaching staff is aware of what it means to play Saturday and Tuesday more than they did twelve weeks ago.

“We didn’t have this in Germany, but now we know how to handle it and the most important thing is that we know the quality of every player. We can trust every player and that makes it easier for us.

“The match against Luton was a really good test and we wanted to go on a winning run and play as well as we could, and for this reason we are delighted for the players.”

It has been an inconsistent start to the Sky Bet League One campaign for Charlton, who have won five, drawn three and lost four so far this season.

The Addicks were out of action last week as their scheduled fixture with Walsall was postponed due to international call-ups, but Lee Bowyer’s side thrashed Stevenage 8-0 in their previous outing in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Ahead of what is likely to be a tough encounter at the Valley, Winkler is expecting an attacking performance from both teams.

“I’m expecting them to be a bit like Luton – they won’t park the bus; they’re ambitious enough to play football,” continued the Reds’ Assistant Head Coach. “Some teams try to change their idea and philosophy of football when they play against us, but I don’t think they will do this.

“They’re a very good team – last season they almost reached the Championship. They have a very ambitious manager who has played in the high leagues. They’re similar to Luton and have a clear formation and idea of football.

“We will have lots of our supporters, which is amazing again. I think we will show a very good performance, but we need to do that to win and take three points off Charlton.”

Regarding Kieffer n' Woodrow. Neither 'll play. It's a smoke screen. Stendel n' Winkler want Charlton focussing on them instead of Brown n' Bahre.
