Not spending in transfer windows .you get left behind in premier league

Window after window we have patched up and papered over cracks instead of investing heavily in the team .Well we are getting left behind .You can't do what we do as a club in the premier League of football.

But there are nerds on here who think because Rafa got us to 10th we should do better.

They haven't the gumption to see that all of the owners of clubs below us and the owners of the three promoted clubs invested above us whilst the fat slug only took money out of the club instead of backing the manager.

I was going to say we're reaping what we sewed...but we didn't really 'sew' anything....and that's why we're going down.

this is exactly the problem Kev. Its easy to say these players finished 10th but EVERY single team strengthened significantly and got the best they could so they would be ready for the premier league. Just look at what the 3 promoted sides spent. Their ambition puts us to shame. We were the promoted side who stayed up with minimal investment yet we didnt invest again with the owner hoping for another miracle.

apparently its the spanish waiters fault

Amazing to think were we could be if we'd had an owner that knew what an asset he'd bought where we could be.

Ashley is scum that we need rid of, or we'll just sink and sink.

    nope
but we certainly shouldnt be this bad

going down we wil with the manger
these players have proven they can battle and that on their day they are a top 12 team

but just keep using the same 11 all the time and only using 1 sub in a loosing game is shocking

every team knows how we will set up and how we wont change things

but look at the players and ask yourselves why we are atthe bottom

    dubravka
    a decent goalie
    dummet a steady left back
lascelles some say a potetial england player
yedlin possibly out of his depth
fernadez a good cetre half would get in a lot of prem teams outside the top 6
ritchie when allowed to attack a good player would get in most sides in the prem or match day teams anyway
shelvey some pundits cant believe this lad isnt in the england squad
diiame was class when we were on form last season
kennedy can rip defences apar if allowed to attack and has something in front
perez will run in circles all day i cant believe rafa keeps playing him
    muto judgemnet out
    joselwho
why do we have him here and not mitro or gayle
    the manager
run out of ideas ( dint have many in the first place )

most of that tema finished 10 last season

i would say we are better in the back with fernadez so an improvement

i would say with mitro and gayle we would be bettr up front

    than we were last season

the only thing is we are playing defensive footy with attacking players

It’s pretty obvious it’s down to player quality.

The tactics yesterday saw us with massive possession and attempts... manager did his job well.

Since Summer 2017 Brighton have had a net spend of 110 million, Our net spend.... 1 million... case closed.

Are Brighton a better squad than we are for that 110 million net spend?

One interesting thing I spotted yesterday at the match was that Knockaert was an unused sub for them. If you remember when both teams came up, he was their star man (and we allegedly wanted to buy him). Now he's an unused sub in a game against relegation rivals away from home. I looked at our bench, conversely, and we'd named Atsu and Joselu as our two attacking subs.

The underinvestment in the side, and the transfer policy (whosever it is - the club's or Rafa's - doesn't change the point) has left us in a position where if we now get relegated we don't have the assets to sell to raise funds, like we did last time with Sissoko and Wijnaldum. So, that means either increasing the debt substantially in order to buy some players AND to cope with the shortfall in revenue, or being at risk of failing to come back up. Chances of selling the club are zero for this very reason.
