I agree with your wider point about the North East teams finding it harder to attract players but I think it's still do-able...we just have to pay more. if we were fulfilling our potential, I think it would be far less of an issue.
.. Agree mate, a bit of investment may have pushed you up the league a bit, and with luck, a bit of a cup run .. But let's face it, the Premier League is a far cry from what it was when it first came about .. Not sure finishing mid table every season is that much better, avoids the heart ache but is rather boring. The whole thing needs realigning. The bubble needs to burst for the good of the game ..

Personally I want an owner that respects what this club is about.
You had a change of owner Andy, might not have billions but they are on board with the fans which is important in my eyes.
Regardless of what happens with your lot this season, because of change of owner you are slowly going in the right direction. We have no direction and never will with this owner.
.. We are on the up until we hit that brick wall again. Just gota enjoy the ride to get there .. That said, we are never going to win the top league again, and probably, never going to win a cup. What's the point in a league where everyone does not have at least some chance. Used to watch tons of football, but tend to watch just us and yous these days. Will not pay to watch games on Sky and the FA can definitely **** right off .. Hope all the money comes crashing down ..

    Aye.

One day the tide will go out, not just in football, and we will see who's wearing swimming trunks.

It does but the only way I can see it happening is if the top 4 or so bugger off to a European super league then some salary caps are brought in.

And I can't see that happening.

.. Maybe a Premier League 2 would go some way to help out the bigger clubs, but that would well cut lose the smaller ones ..

Ashley won't give money to Benitez ,that much is obvious .
It's time to sack Benitez and get a yes man in who Ashley will bankroll .

Benitez has done a sterling job but if the owner doesn't see eye to eye there's little point in him bring here.

If the 50000 fans who attend every other week say it's to support the team then Benitez going will be a positive move if Ashley will release funds to a manager he likes .

What a fncking p|ssing match we have descended into is a joke .

That's why I said a few weeks ago Benitez would be sacked by xmas .. Ashley will bankroll a new manager .

He might do that- sack Rafa.

One thing he won't do is bankroll the manager he replaces Rafa with.

I think money will come if Benitez goes .
Benitez has engaged in a media power struggle , and yes he has the fans backing , but Ashley writes the cheques .. Only one winner .
