    Short appearance

I went to watch Ashington v West Auckland in the Northern League First Division this afternoon and saw the following.
In the first 20 minutes or so a West Auckland midfielder picked up an injury and in the 27th minute had to come off and was replaced by Aaron Wearmouth. The ball immediately broke to an Ashington player from a throw in and Wearmouth put in a really good strong challenge to win the ball, however, it just ran away from him slightly and he lunged in to another tackle and hit the Ashington player just below the knee. The referee, who was being assessed, immediately flourished the red card and Wearmouth was dismissed after he had been on the field for approximately 47 seconds! He had managed to touch the ball and two Ashington players in that time.

West Auckland played with 10 men for the rest of the match and got a creditable 2-2 draw, in fact, they were the better team although Ashington have now extended ther unbeaten run to 7 games.
