Think what made that Shearer goal special was that it felt like a throwback to his best when people were writing him off after his injuries - and we needed it at the time. His display when sir Bob took over in the 8 nil game against Sheffield Wed had the same feeling for me when we went 442 and he got crosses in again.

I could be wrong, but didn't Bellamy get us a late winner shortly afterwards?

Yes mate, not long before time. 2 -1.

Shows the knock on effect inspiration a quality player can offer that we are lacking right now.

    Cheers, Stan.

The forum is at its best when we're all just enjoying posting about the team we love, Stan. And with the way things are at the moment it's good-and important-for people to be able to remember and talk about why we love the club so much.

Yes Zip. Thats what we love. Reminiscing about the feelings we got of the positive, happy moments in time that make this fked up club worth supporting that must come back. I am sure of that.

Aye, man, they will come back. May take some time but what we can't do in the meantime is allow Ashley to taint everything about the club-and that includes our memories.

Aye. That was the year I think we lost our first 3 group games and against the odds came through. On par with the Barca Tino goals for me.

We are in limbo now but the Geordie nation have an unbreakable spirit. Ashleys reign is a blip in an intouchable history of a unique club.

Work comes early tomorrow. Over and out!
