Thread: o/t best movie soundtrack of all time?

  1. #21
As music that both fits with and enhances the film, I could support Jock's nomination of Paris, Texas, but in the same light I'd nominate Local Hero (Knopfler did really well here with his first soundtrack), and as Kubrick gets a mention above for 2001, I'd suggest Barry Lyndon (who he?) as a better Kubrick example.

Measured in terms of tunes that I still like to hum I would add:

The Great Escape and Bonnie and Clyde.

I think the Ennio Morricone scores for the Sergio Leone films (Good, Bad and the Ugly, Fistful of Dollars and A Few Dollars More) are absolutely brilliant. In fact the music makes the films.

I've also gor a real soft spot for Laras Theme in Doctor Zivago.

Jaws is a very iconic tune and still one of the best ever movie tunes.
