Other than a couple of seasons at Sunderland, he has spent his long career in London/on the South coast.( I'm ignoring the few weeks at Toronto, which were more like a holiday break)... so unlikely that he'll be moving back up north. Wouldn't turn him down if we'd got the chance to sign him though.

These things do sometimes happen. Darren Bent played for Burton at this level. The same Darren Bent who was earning 60k a week at Derby. They don't always work though as said case shows.
We had Peter Odemwingie who'd had a decent career and he did nowt for us.

He would bang in 20+ a season with us for the next couple of seasons. I'd have him no problem.

Defoe is said to be on Sheffield United radar, along with Shane Long of Southampton, seems looking
for another striker in January 2019 to push for a automatic promotion or play off spot.

Let's hope Blades sign Defoe & Long and then loan us Billy Sharp till end of the season. !
