Wigan Athletic - v - Leeds United ***Matchday Thread***

    KO 13.30hrs Sunday.

Wigan Athletic will assess the fitness of Nick Powell and Gary Roberts ahead of their game against Leeds United at the DW Stadium on Sunday.

Powell came off in the 4-2 loss at Sheffield United while Roberts picked up a hamstring injury in that game.

Leeds will be without Luke Ayling for the trip to Greater Manchester because of damage in his right knee.

The defender will be out for two months after sustaining the injury in their draw with Nottingham Forest.

Match factsWigan and Leeds last met on the final day of the 2016-17 season - a 1-1 draw at the DW Stadium.

Leeds are unbeaten in three league games against Wigan (W1 D2) since losing 0-2 on Boxing Day in 2014.

Paul Cook's only previous match against Leeds was in August 2013 in the League Cup first round - his Chesterfield side lost 1-2 at Elland Road.

Since his debut in the competition in August 2016, no player has provided more Championship assists than Leeds playmaker Pablo Hernandez (20, level with Conor Hourihane).

Wigan have lost just one of their last 21 home league matches (W12 D8 L1), a 0-2 reverse against Blackpool in February.

Since the start of the 2016-17 season, Leeds haven't won a single away league match when Luke Ayling hasn't featured (P14 W0 D4 L10); Ayling is injured and will miss this match.

Wigan are undefeated this season at home with 7 wins in 9 games so don't be surprised if it isn't as easy as some people are thinking it is going to be.

Desperately need a win to take us back to the top, over Norwich, living in Norwich is awful at present, all these plastic fans who can't name one player in the side are now ardent supporters, apparently they're going up😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬

Norwich fans are the worst fans in the country. Remember when we turned them over they were saying Farke was worst manager they'd ever had. Passionless, boring and dull fans with a dull ground and some of the most cringeworthy 'songs' in the entire football league.

All true Joel, but their team is currently top of the division, where we should be.

Ayling and Berardi out for a while so please no more injuries.

A draw would be acceptable but a win would be more acceptable..just hope we do our jobs properly from corners/free kicks..can't be doing with gifting opponents 'soft goals' but I have to say Dallas in the defence doesn't fill me with confidence..Douglas back possibly so that is a boost.

    A tough game.

No team near the quality of Fulham or Wolves of last year, when you have Birmingham and Qpr a couple of points off the top 6 it makes you wonder how poor this league is this year and is there for the taking for anybody who wants it, Wigan away is a must 3 points surely

I would like to see Forshaw start - maybe for Klich or Alioski?
