    It was at home to Ipswich in the 83/84 season and I think we lost. My Dad took me. Funny thing is that my Uncle took me to watch Forest a few months later and they won, but I still stuck with Notts!!

    Yeah, that's what I meant, we could attract huge crowds before he came onto the scene, especially in the FA Cup, as high as 45k (1921 v Aston Villa).

    The gate receipts for that game, where the attendance was 45,014, were £4,086.

    That's an average admission price of 9p. (The equivalent of £4.28 now).

    The result, incidentally, was 0-0.
