Thread: Frame of the goal

    Frame of the goal

While I'm in a bad mood I want to have a moan about the use the above term.

It's no good to me if I'm listening on the radio, did it hit the post or the bar, 'frame of the goal' tells me very little other than it didn't go in.

Why have players started placing the ball, almost outside the markings when they take corners and why do refs not seem to know what a foul throw is these days?

    Answers on a postcard please.

This has annoyed me ever since we conceded a goal at MK Dons several years ago from a corner taken well outside the markings (during the Steve Thompson era). I realise that part of the ball only has to touch or hang over the outside edge of the marking, but now we're seeing players put the ball down several inches beyond that and the linesmen stand there looking and just ignore it.
