On the pitch & off ....... attendances up & shirt sales up too.

Was reading that Football attendances have always been riddled with inaccuracy. Victorian and early Edwardian clubs typically counted turnstile receipts rather than clicks, leaving journalists to estimate the size of the crowds .......... Match reports in the first half of the 20th century would often feature wildly differing figures for the same game or be rounded to the nearest thousand. The situation is little better today. Last month, under a freedom of information act it was revealed several PL sides significantly overstated attendances, publishing figures based on tickets sold rather than those in the ground including West Ham who sell in advance to holiday package companies.Even at non-League level, certainly from Step Three down clubs are known to announce gates based on head count, estimate, or, as one official at a Step Five club stated - by simply making it up............ talking of which my son was expecting to walk on stage last night to a couple of Thousand Belgrade souls and appropriate security. He sent these pics of the gig with over15,000 in front of him with little security .............. and ........

.......... on stage in Belgrade got hit by a flying Vodka bottle (right side of pic) thrown onto the stage .......... bloody hell some greeting but a success - hope him wearing a Leeds top gets the club shops sales rolling in Serbia too for his efforts.
