I hope this Friday is a MASSIVE improvement on the last time we were in this city!
Morning Al'. Problem for myself and many others is I don't get to games under my own steam. Trains can be a nightmare for midweek games (with Fridays especially rammed) and final services often leave about twenty minutes after you've tucked into your much vaunted half time pies and a pints.

Going by coach also adds another £20 on top of my match day for taxis from West Brom' following away night games. Don't get me wrong I love games under the floodlights, but I don't appreciate their inconvenience or paying extra for the privilege.

    Bah humbug.

Football doesn't have to sell an ever increasing number of games it chooses to. It is only of benefit to the Premier League if the Premier League needs more money. Anyone care to argue that one?

Football is actually devaluing its product. I think the actual price per match they are paying has actually decreased as the number shown has increased.

Football should use take up the following negotiating stance. Greatly reduce the number of matches available to 2 a week and only have 1 package. Sky in particular would have to ensure they outbid everyone. Result good money for football and more Saturday football for the true fans.
Well hi to you too. Sorry for the delay in responding but I’m having problems with the site. It’s quite simple really. I didn’t understand your chosen wording as it read like a contradiction in terms and posted to that end. I’m perfectly aware of the commercial aspects of the game and agree with your sentiment regarding saturation. I’m not arguing the Prem’ or football in general doesn’t need finance. Further its negotiating stance was flawed from the outset.

It just saddens me that football from the top down prostituted itself to such an extent, becoming a slave to its own greed in the form of poor administration and rampant commercialism at increasingly great inconvenience to attending/paying supporters. I’m of the opinion TV companies are extracting the urine with the amount of games individual teams are expected to move for TV. At the very least games scheduled for TV and revenue should be more evenly spread.

The greed is down to football and not just those at the top of the food chain, but Sky et.al created the TV addiction and are calling the tune to a ludicrous degree. For the record whilst well intentioned and based on sound logic, I think (sadly) the window of opportunity regarding your negotiating stance slammed shut some time ago. Football in this country (and further afield) has become a financial behemoth that will most likely eventually implode and perhaps even bring down the game many of us love. If so then it's such a needless shame.

    Anyway, TTFN, lots to do.

This situation is only going to get worse with TV companies demanding more stupid times for the prices they pay for the TV rights.

We have seen the first 7.45pm kick off on a Saturday last weekend and there is talk of Sunday evening games too.

In Spain they have very late games at 10pm to suit overseas audiences and it would not surprise me if they did that here.

The championship will always will be the Guinea pig that will be used to see how much p iss the TV companies can take as they know they need the TV money the most.

All this could change though if the rumoured European super league breakaway in 2021 as reported recently.

Personally, I hate Monday and Friday night games the most followed by Saturday 5.30pm.

Don't in anyway agree this can't be reversed. Bundesliga has said NEIN to Monday Night Football after fan protests. So come on English football have the guts to stand up to Sky/BT and say enough is enough. For the good of the game and the true fans.

Well, I won't be going to Bramall Lane. Living in Leicestershire near the M1, I know what it's like on a Friday evening - chaos! If it was a Saturday it would be a 'piece of cake. It would take just over an hour and quite an easy journey. Sadly, the real fans are the last to be considered. Many would say that I'm not a real fan because I won't make the effort but if more stay away perhaps it might make them think again. I doubt it though.

I do understand many of the objections raised above, for me though, those games give me more games to watch live on tv, as tonight for instance.
