Has he ever previously said Ashley is a fat cockney b@$yard who should get out of our club?
If he has, then that's fair enough (by saying Ashley is a nice bloke), but if Not, then he's not a turncoat.

We need all the good players we can get, as there is still some dross in our squad.
Lascelles is a good player, the playing staff would be weakened without him.
He and shelvey shouldn't just waltz straight back in. But, they are both immensely important.

Jamaal Lascelles has been very outspoken over the last few years, critisising his own team mates, stating the performances and team are not good enough, saying everything possible should be done to keep Rafa happy to name a few, Setting the whole we are sticking together in the face of adversity vibe and the fans have loved it and cheered his name. EVERY fan knows who and what the problem is at newcastle, the facts and figures are there for all to see to back up the fans anger.
