    Land of hope and glory??

WTF? Why the ENGLISH national anthem when the players came on? Don't Nolan, Ray, Jones etc count? I assume it was connected with Sunday, but millions died that were not English! What an insulting cock-up!

Thought it was "Land of Hope and Glory" they played. I always thought that the national anthem of England is usually taken to be the same as that of the United Kingdom as a whole—"God Save the Queen".

Maybe the Club did not have a recording of the national anthem, but a staff member had Land of Hope and Glory on a CD and it is a patriotic tune? The fact that no-one at the Club registered that it might not be appropriate for all UK citizens should not come as a surprise.
