    This time last year...

... we were top of the league and had just beaten Bristol Rovers - an L1 club - 4-2 in the first round of the FA Cup. Pretty much one of the best games / performances of recent years that was. We had a solid starting 11, including some wise old heads and a couple of young stars. We had a manager who knew how to get the best out of his team, and a style of play that was effective and difficult to play against.

Now we're possibly the easiest team in England to play against, with no coherent style of play or tactics, no leaders, and no real hope. And that transition cost the club (well, Hardy) a small fortune. Absolute madness.

By next Christmas, we could be top again. That's football!

I think the hardest thing to instill into players is confidence, and at this moment in time most of our players have very little. Harry Kewell will be judged on whether or not he can make the players believe in themselves. He may be a top coach but his man management skills are now being severley tested.

The same man management skills that turned around a W0-D1-L6 start to the season in to a W3-D4-L3 next 10 games probably...

And yet even when we were top of the league we still had plenty on here moaning saying we didn’t deserve to be top and had been lucky.
