    Tommy Coyne hat-trick day remembered

This weekend brings the 22nd anniversary of a brilliant Tommy Coyne hat-trick at Rugby Park. The Cobra thrilled us on many occasions between 1993 and 1998 but many remember his part in this 4-2 victory with particular affection. - External Link

Enjoyed that trip down memory lane. Last goal is one that has always stuck in my mind - brilliant. Okay, only highlights, but football played looked more fluent than we are playing now, in spite of fact we were in relegation trouble. Also showed there were dreadful refereeing decisions then, too. Should have stopped game for Jamie’s head injury and no way was it a Killie pass back to the keeper. Great goal by Softie to go with TC’s hat trick. Superb!

I absolutely loved Tommy Coyne playing for us and as a youngster during that period he was one of my first real Motherwell heroes. He wasn't just a goalscorer, he was a classy player who made the rest of the team tick when he was on the field.
