As we know though it doesn't make any difference what a labour controlled area does because the flock will still vote them in
Sarah Champion is a damn good MP, she’s done a hell of a lot for the CSE victims in her area. It’s not too long ago she was forced to resign from the Shadow cabinet for an article she wrote up for the media. I doubt JC will be on her Xmas card list and vice-versa.

Gents chill out. Obviously there's a soft spot for SC
I wasn't meaning to criticise her and yes it's very commendable but nevertheless I'm still surprised she would go against the party mantra because it's not the norm at the moment.
Credit to her if she does so and for upholding democracy rather than going for cheap votes and spotting an opportunity to further her career (Corbyn, Swinson)
She still looks like a badger though but maybe a democratic badger

Well done Sarah for putting country before politics and respecting democracy, over to you John Healy to honour your electorate.

To force a GE now would be pretty suicidal for opposition parties because Boris is gonna be seen as a bit of a hero for getting Brexit over the line plus he wont have his vote divided with the Brexit party who will cease to exist in any real shape or form. Also another year at least before a GE will mean that Boris will have plenty of time to trip himself up in that time and voters will also will not quite be so euphoric for him once the dust has settled.
Good shout Roly. Some ERG people been seeking assurance from the pm today that they can push for no deal at end of transition if no agreement reached by then.

With his deal, Johnson has made it abundantly clear that the people he wants to please are the hard right wing of the Tory party. Not only will we lose the crucial customs union arrangements supporting our manufacturing industry and 100s of 1000s of jobs 1/6

but by further diluting the legal protections for labour and environmental standards, the PM has made the laws that underpin workers’ rights and public safety extremely vulnerable to future trade deals 2/6

Yep. The Brexit funders, mainly represented by the ERG, have been pressured by the Benn act to prise open a deal that at least gives them a chink of daylight within the deal of stripping away standards, so that if the full no deal is denied, their funders have freedom to move towards US style working standards. So sad that working people are supporting this. I remember speaking to middle class American on holiday last year. She has 6 days holiday per year and said that's quite average or there. We really want to go there?

So can I be clear about this raging: is it yours and Labour's position that the UK Parliament can't be trusted to be in charge of legislation on worker's rights and that we need to accept EU legislation that we would have no democratic control over?

Alternatively the Labour Party could actual win an election and bring in their own regulations to protect workers .

As Kerr alluded to this is something many of the current Labour party or it's supporters seem to be overlooking .

As I've said already, yes they could. But the EU standards, if you have them as a minimum standard, something that no party of any colour, could stoop below, then there is nothing to stop the labour party, or any party improving on them when in power. We have always been able to do this without eu interference. Haven't we?
