There's blinkered and there's blinkered. The whole of the high street is suffering because of high rentals and business rates!

If you want to attack someone or body aim it at the Tories, the real damage makers in the North!

A very valid point,I wonder what the likes of Alan Sugar (I refuse to call him Lord.) make of this?
He champions small businesses calling them "the backbone of the economy" which I'm sad to say they were!
Nowadays it's the Supermarkets and the likes of Amazon who are ruling the roost and the Tories are sh!t scared of them.
Add the rentals/business rates on top of said companies ruthless marketing and discounting strategies, the high street/local butchers/greengrocers etc are well and truly fu cked.

Yes, most downtown areas (except Newcastle) are no go areas for local businesses, it's the same in most smaller towns. Amazon etc. rule. My downtown is just the same, nobody goes there because of your Walmarts, Home Depots etc. etc. Sad.

The chief executive of Iceland stores was interviewed a few days ago and he stated that they paid over £40 million in business rates compared to the mighty Amazon's total taxes of less that £4 million. Amazon must be dozens and dozens the size of Iceland.
