Why not try Chettle until January transfer window and see what he can achieve. If its down to the other frontrunners he can't be any worse.
I've checked and it's not April 1st, so I must be in the middle of a bad dream.
Put me down for Steve Chettle as well sooner than any of the three losers.

Spat my Gin out. Where has this come from?
Appleton, Hurst, Chettle in that order for me
These odds are all over the place. I didn't expect Mad Dog coming up on the rails!
Martin Allen has been strangely out of sorts in his last two jobs, but without doubt he was one of my favourites of the Ray Trew era and overall his managerial record still stands up to most people available at this level, and he certainly ticks the experience box.
Put it this way, Paul Hurst would still be my first choice because for me he's the standout candidate by some way and I would see it as a forward-looking appointment for the long-term, but failing that, I would sooner gamble on Martin Allen rediscovering his mojo than appoint some of the other names floating about.

Chesterfield FC reporter has tonight said that MA hasn't heard anything.
So we've gone full circle and now we're back to Martin Allen and Shaun Derry? Bloody hell.
I don't know about Allen. He's completely nuts - often in a good way, but sometimes not. He did a good job overall for us last time round, but I think he's overrated by quite a few people. Derry would be an absolute disaster. I'd probably take Nolan over either of them tbh.
