The decline of our town has taken decades, exacerbated by social and technological changes, unintelligent planning decisions, and a naive faith that ‘the market’ will solve the problems it has created. It may take as long to reconfigure Dumfries town centre in ways that generate lasting local benefits, but Jardi's ideas are well worth focusing as a starting point.

Dumfries will never progress unless we get rid of the small minded people who resist change. As soon as any interesting idea is suggested it is immediately kicked into touch. With the proposed Whitesands development we have an opportunity to rejuvenate the town but it seems that is heading for chaos. Awarding contracts to dodgy firms is another disaster area - DG1 is a classical example. We had a town centre manager but that was done away with. Under the present circumstances I am not optimistic for Dumfries and unfortunately our great wee club is suffering but thanks to our BOD and enthusiastic support we will prevail.

I noticed that the supporters liaison committee hasn't met this season. I know they are voluntary but it would be good if it could convene and perhaps we could compile a list of things to take to it?
