Not a relief. A travesty for every other club outside of the elites.

A breakaway of those elites would bring a sense of reality back into the domestic game and generally make it much more competitive with a majority amount of teams rather than the minority of them that we see season after season, 99% of the time.

It does turn in circles eventually though. A few seasons ago Aston Villa were one of the seven ever presents in the premiership.

Also during the season of the first of Assley's relegations at one time we were 2nd bottom of the league with only Spurs beneath us.


At that time though Spurs had a regime determined to fight for success and finished the season well.

I agree. The fact he is even acknowledging it with a response shows its on their radars. Testing the waters cause I'm sure it would annoy a lot of folk if they said they were up for it. Fans, the Italian FA etc.

The competition (the 'super league) would eventually lose its sparkle after a few years. One of the reasons that the games in the Champions League between the big clubs are so glamorous is partly because they're relatively infrequent-play them too often and they would become just another game. Also, it would be ruinously expensive for fans to travel to away games so the away support would drop off too after a while.

They're just a bunch of greedy bastards who want all the money for themselves and I think it would bite them on the arse before too long.
