Thread: Sheffield United Post Match Thoughts

  1. #11
To beat us, Sheffield needed to match our effort and they couldn't do it for 90 minutes. In fact that statement does us no justice at all because we were outstanding and a point is the very least we deserved. Conceding that late goal would finish most teams, we simply dusted ourselves down and kept going. It would have been a huge injustice if that had been the winner.

Henderson pulled off some astonishing saves to keep them in the game. It could literally have been 4 or 5-2 to us. He was lucky not to have given away a penalty too. Although that ref was never ever going to give it no matter how blatant it was.

Feeling very proud and maybe slightly robbed, knowing we could/should have won.

No way am I condoning the throwing. As you say, worthy of a ban. But if Utd's players go to their own fans, instead of being more interested in the home fans, then then incident doesn't happen. Too serious to call it 'banter'.

Ref - Wish, for once, we could get one that is consistent with both sides
How many more times was he going to let Leon Clarke lead with the arm/elbow before he was going to give a foul never mind have a word
Their keeper (he'll be going places) couldn't have taken more time preparing and talking goal kicks if he tried.

it'll be interesting to play back the handball shout in the second half. Not sure whether it was or if he got his arm out of the way in time

Overall cracking game, should have been 3 points but I'd have taken one before KO

    Bring on QPR

a few comments from blades fans

I was impressed with Rotherham' s intensity and pressing. Not just in spells, but for 90mins

Yep. They weren't the best side we've played, but you could see that even 1-2 down, they smelled blood and knew we were pinching ourselves at being ahead. All it took was desire - summat we badly lacked.

rotherham have just had 26 shots

    Against Sheffield United.

    Twenty. Six. Shots.

That performance was utterly embarrassing and we’ve robbed a point. Got to the top and fell away once more.

5-2 would have been a fair reflection on the game

michael smith Thought he was fantastic today. He won the ball and held it up brilliantly for team mates. Egan and O’Connell really struggled in the air against him. Surely one we should be looking at in January like we did with Hanson as a plan B when we can’t break teams down. Him or Deano were my MOTM

Yep Smithy great again he is such a good leader of the line and makes championship centre backs look poor when he comes up against them. 9/10 he will win the ball in the air and very rarely loses possession when he gets it. He also gets sod all protection from refs. If he scored more goals he wouldn't be with us. Keep it going Smudger!

Their keeper is typical of the new style of stopper. Fantastic shot - stopper, good at distribution, but weaker in the air. Penalty? Not sure about that, but it definitely wasn't a foul on him.

Great result, should have been 3 points.?

Wasn’t there today because of golf, watched the highlights and it looked like the Alamo
