What did they achieve from passing the ball from side to side over that spell? Fans were moaning but we kept our shape, didn't let them through us and closed down effectively enough without players being drawn out of position creating space in behind, which is exactly what Carlisle were trying to make us do. Credit Carlisle for keeping the ball for that long but imo the team defended it well enough for the attack to finish with nothing, it was a case of us standing firm and not letting them through us.

Fair enough and a good counter argument. Our ability to maintain our shape and be tight and resilient when under pressure will be something that we will need in abundance over the coming weeks and months.

Yes, we should deliberately aim to be just one or two points above relegation until the very last day to ensure a big crowd and a joyous pitch invasion.
