Mista I don't like hit and hope but there must be a middle ground between that and what we often do which is 20 passes then lose it in our own half? Holmes on his debut showed a different way, carrying the ball directly from our half into the opposition half without a dozen laterals, Keogh used to do that too but FL seems to have erased that from his game

It's going nowhere with this defence, it makes so many school boy errors! and Frank and Co seem to be struggling to sorting it!
There's nearly half a season gone and they still haven't grasped how to play it out from the back, let's hope the January window can change things round!
Not all down to the defence, MoP. Boring Boro’ apart, we’re the joint lowest scorers in the top nine and Norwich in top spot have only conceded two fewer than us.
Doesn’t help that teams just walk through our midfield and some widemen seem very reluctant to track back and help out.
Loathe to criticise FL...he’s forgotten more about football than most of us have ever known and recent injuries haven’t helped...but I do wish he’d stop chopping and changing and work out what his best side is.

It tends to break down when......

    1. Malone gets the ball, back to the sideline. Can't/won't use his right and so plays it backwards.
    2. Hudds gets it facing his own goal with a man tight on him or he has 2 or 3 opposition players on him. Most of his back passes are the right choice
    3. The forward pass is aimed at someone being man marked. The return ball is just about the only option
    4. There is no movement in front meaning no outlet available.

All of the above are relatively easy to sort out on the training ground.

Only a few week's ago everybody was raving about the way we were playing I think some fans forget their is an opposition there to stop us playing the way fans would like to see us playing Its obvious that FL isn't interested in stopping the opposition playing so we may have to learn to live with inconsistent performances

Hurrah, at last someone has said it Mista. When we played a tighter more disciplined game under Rowett, people moaned we didn't score enough. Now we are looser and scoring more, playing attractive football, people moan that our defence is fragile. You can't please anyone it seems unless we will all games 5-0. You know what, I don't care if we concede a goal every week as long as we score 2

I don't care if Malone is a bit one footed or Huddlestone plays it back sometimes. I don't care that we lack a big striker or a talismanic midfield general. We are an above average 2nd tier team hoping to develop. What do you expect? We ain't perfect, probably never will be in my lifetime and winning every week would get dull anyway.

Only 5 teams have conceded less than us so, is the defence really that bad. Discounting the 4 that Leeds put past us and Villa's 3 and we have conceded 17 in 18 games. That's not bad. We are averaging a goal and a half per game ourselves which is why we are winning more than we lose.

This squad/team is very much work in progress and it won't be perfect every game. I just hope it is perfect in 13 days time........
