Liverpool were div one champions in 1981-82. We lost 1 - 0 to them in the league cup in Nov 1982 (they also won the title in 82-83)Originally Posted by miller172
We played Arsenal in Oct 2003. They weren't reigning champions when we played them but did go on to win the league that year (and they won it 2001-2002.

I'd go with Liverpool and that game at Anfield can certainly be described as competitive, we were unlucky to lose. Hopefully we'll be able to say the same against City because from what I've seen of them most Premiership teams aren't even able to compete.
