Would the upper arm count? How about the shoulder?
It’s part of the game in hockey with attackers aiming for defenders feet but it’s a hell of a lot harder to aim a flick or pass at a defender’s arm than a foot!

How often do you see a player make contact with the ball with their upper arm or shoulder.......I can’t remember the last time?

There is a way to mitigate for this in my opinion and for obstruction in the box and that’s to have an additional “penalty spot” on the 18 yard box for these “lesser” incidents of foul play.

    So true Kettering ,

Wow it may focus our forwards in hitting the goals much more if it perfected their aiming

The answer is simple,ANY contact between hand and ball should be given as a foul without exception.

In hockey ANY contact between ball and foot is treated as a foul

    It’s a problem easily solved.

I appreciate what you are saying Mick but am not at all sure. In such circumstances we would have had a cast iron indisputable penalty when the ball struck James Chester’s hand. Nothstanding that it was the Villa surely being punished like that would have been wrong. Somewhere, somehow the matter of calculated intent should be included. Following such a path would inevitably lead to officials making what to others seem wrong decisions. But wrong decisions can and do happen throughout the game and this is something you have got to live with if you both play and watch.
